It’s too much effort!
I think one of the main comments about giving a presentation is that it’s too much effort.

We shy away from the responsibility because giving a presentation and preparing takes too much time. And it’s true. Making a good presentation takes time. But there are 2 aspects to consider: 1. The N+1 presentation is easier than each of the previous presentations. The more presentations you give, the more material you have prepared and the more practice and knowledge you have. Practice makes perfect. 2. Not all presentations need 100% of your effort. For an internal presentation at your company you can dedicate little time and the world won’t end if the slides aren’t so polished. For a PyCon you’ll surely aim for every slide to be perfect and you’ll have a script for each slide.
Regardless of whether it’s a small presentation or an important one, applying storytelling will help the objective and content of your presentation reach and resonate with your audience. Don’t avoid presenting, take advantage of every opportunity but regulate the effort you invest.
