Third quarter of 2021
Closing the third quarter of 2021, I realized it was full of many good things: * I picked the blog back up and started writing more regularly. I made several specific improvements to it, besides learning html, css and javascript in the process. * I took part in the Data Umbrella sprint, where 2 pull requests of ours were approved and we ended up among the contributors. * I took part in PyLatam, with a talk about RISE. * My talk for Pycon Chile was accepted, for November. Last year I had been left wanting! * I recorded a panel From Argentina to Mexico, Ethical and Responsible AI Projects, which will come out in November at INC Monterrey. * I recommended an intern and they landed their dream job :D * We took a short vacation in the Elqui valley. * We did an exhausting but beautiful hike through the hills of Quilpué. * We played 2 family bingo games (Father’s Day and national holidays). * I reconnected with a French friend whom I had not spoken to in about 6 years. * In literature, I read, among others, Proyect Hail Mary by Andy Weir and Range by David Epstein. * I learned to solve the Rubik’s cube.
Other things, less positive: * I was not selected in the flash fiction of Santiago en 100 palabras. * I applied but was not selected for the Spanish track of Pycon Brasil. I think my application was not completed, because I received neither acceptance nor rejection.
What is coming in 2021-Q4?
- The Spartan Race, where I hope not to make a complete fool of myself.
- A talk at a workshop for 1000 programmers in Salta, about libraries for different problems.
- Workshop at PyCon Argentina: Programar y Reprogramar Recursos para Docentes, with Sofía Martin, Liliana Hurtado and Ariel Ramos.
- Talk at PyCon Chile: WebApps con Streamlit: ¡más fácil que la tabla del uno, poh!
- Attempt number 45682123 to climb Cerro La Campana.
- Get back to writing on the blog.
- Tidy up my desk and the storage room.
We will see how much of all this comes true.
