I discovered that there was a sequel to Ready Player One! Unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. The book starts slow, takes too long to establish the conflict, which turns out to be hard to believe even for this kind of book. It also makes many unnecessary references and explanations about the first book. It tries to cover pop references from the 80s and 90s that it didn’t cover in the first book because they didn’t make the cut for the first novel: John Hughes’s movies (The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Pretty in Pink), Prince’s music, Tolkien’s world, among others.
